Ettan Original first came onto the market in 1990, and it remains one of the most popular snus around today. The Original portion carries over the characteristics of the traditional Ettan Lös snus taste, and it stands out by how unique and elegant it is. It contains unseasoned tobacco, as well as hints of smoke aroma, that is very reminiscent of Belgian bitter and dark chocolate, in both the nose and mouth. At a strength of 8.5mg/g, it provides a more regular nicotine sensation that beginners may be comfortable with.

Its original format makes it quite similar to its loose counterpart in that it is dark in color, is moist, and has a fast release of flavor. The only difference is that it is wrapped in portion material. Traditional snusers are bound to enjoy one of the first ever snus flavors that entered the market.

When you look into the history of snus, one of the first brands on the scene was Ettan in 1822. Manufactured still today by Swedish Match, Ettan is synonymous with Swedish snus and Swedish snus tradition and it is as relevant today as it has ever been.

Great first snus

This was one of the very first snus I tried about 15 years ago. Among its popular contemporaries such as General and Göteborgs Rapé, I found Ettan Original portion to be the most agreeable snus for a newcomer. Portions are medium-sized, moist, and soft. The flavor is rich tobacco, light salt, and cocoa (in that order.) It's not my daily snus, but one that I am always revisiting. If you've never tried it, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Not my thing

I very much dislike this flavor, not my thing. Others seem to love it, but I do not. This may sound strange, but sometimes when I drive by power line transmission towers on the highway, they put off a very strange smell that I cannot describe. This snus tastes like that smell.

very nice

This is good stuff.  Not a bunch of flavorings to get in the way of the tobacco.  And, the tobacco is clearly of high quality.  ...  Users of American style snuff (like me), may find this subtle and mild tasting at first.

Rich and Earthy

This is a nice mild tobacco, reminiscent of cocoa/dark chocolate with an earthy backbone and very little spice.  A great morning snus that pairs well with a cup of coffee.  I will be ordering more!

Chocolate!

Am usually underwhelmed when reading the flavor reviews on this website. Always very exaggerated reviews. But this really tastes like a fine chocolate! not too sweet and just the right amount of bitter

My new favorite

I love this snus, it is my new favorite.  Very classy and with a hint of chocolate.  Not in some weird tootsie roll kind of way...  it's just a nice deep flavor.  It tastes like actual tobacco, earthy and dark, yet not overly powerful.  This one goes in the pocket for sure

No flavor

Its a baseline to try but theres really no flavor too it, which is whats advertised. There is worse but there definitely is better.

Smoky chocolate

Really enjoyed this snus, very earthy taste with strong notes of chocolate and tobacco.

Excellent

I love the subdued flavor of this snus. Not overly powerful flavorful and not too salty. Just a great low key earthy flavor. Worth a try. I will try the loose version next.
